Background
KMC Medical Centre plans to launch a new AI-powered MRI system to improve diagnostic services for the Perak community. The initiative follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding with FUJIFILM Malaysia and City Motors Group, marking a major step toward improving access to advanced medical imaging in the region.
The new MRI system will feature artificial intelligence-driven imaging technology designed to deliver faster and clearer scan results. It will also use Zero Helium technology, which supports sustainability and ensures uninterrupted operation by reducing reliance on scarce helium resources. KMC said the system will help improve service reliability while lowering environmental impact.
According to KMC, the advanced MRI will support early and accurate diagnosis of a wide range of conditions, including neurological disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, and chronic illnesses. The system provides more accurate images to help doctors plan treatments and improve patient outcomes.
The MRI service will mainly help patients from Ipoh and nearby districts and meet the rising need for advanced diagnostic care. KMC said the new facility will also complement public healthcare services by easing patient load at government hospitals, particularly for imaging-related cases.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sivanesan Achalingam, Chairman of the State Executive Council Committee for Health, Human Resources, National Integration and Indian Affairs, and State Assemblyman for Sungkai. Representatives from KMC Medical Centre, FUJIFILM Malaysia, and City Motors Group were also present.
Healthcare leaders said the partnership shows their shared goal of using technology to strengthen medical facilities. The new MRI system combines AI imaging with eco-friendly design to improve diagnosis and healthcare services in Perak, while supporting Malaysia’s plan to modernise its healthcare system.
